Product Description:

Arindal is a new European multiuser online fantasy role playing game that is being developed for Mac, Windows-PC's, and Linux (as a Java client). Arindal is available in German, Dutch and French. Other European languages should follow later. Due to the license agreements, there will NOT be an English version.

With this MMORPG, all players participate in the same game over the internet, as a healer, mage or fighter in the eternal battle against evil. The world they live in continues to grow through regular updates and the actions, decisions, successes or failures of the inhabitants have an influence on the development of the world. In Arindal, live quests will be run where the players have to solve puzzles and problems and adventure together. Often, these campaigns take just a few hours but sometimes they may last days.

Arindal focuses on friendly and social activities and is no player versus player (PvP) game.

What's new in this version:

- There are 2 new areas for group quests. One is connected to the orga quest (a follow up for the pirate fort), one is a new quest. At some parts, you'll need passwords. Not everything is translated yet, if a password does not work in your language, try english. - Pathfinding: new paths added to make it easier to go in the direction of entrance Niamph plateaus, Akvumi, Party Beach, Niamph ponies. - Pathfinding: all paths have been debugged. - New monsters. - New scripts in use. - Some repairs to Reizendes "thinkto-when-fallen" option. - The usual amount of bugfixes. - Mages - see mageforum.

Arindal ReviewNot my thing - Version: 56301, 10/2/2008 06:02AM PST

I gave this game a go, and I have to say it isn't really my type of game. Reading through the negative comments here, I've found myself nodding to most of them. I just don't find it fun.

What disturbs me is the way players are clearly encouraged to promote and rate the game highly on versiontracker (example at: http://www.arindal.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=24126#p24126). The creators of this game should realise that if the game isn't appealing to people, maybe it isn't any good.

Tricking people in to playing the game in the hopes they'll like it backfires when people like me play it, hate it, and give it a low rating.

Also, the Arindal website indicates the game should be classed as "commercial" or "demo" rather than "shareware". I am fairly sure that a monthly subscription game cannot be shareware.
