Apple Airport Extreme Update CommentaryAudio stutter - Version: 2008-001, 4/16/2008 11:52PM PST

Not sure if this issue is connected with this update or the Airport 5.3.1 update. I'm posting it anyway:

Don't install this update if your primary network connectivity is wireless and if you are using real time audio applications! This causes your audio in/out to stutter, at least when using low latency settings (hence real time). The issue has supposedly been reported to Apple, also by various developers/vendors so I really hope they sort this our ASAP.

If you've installed the update (like me) you'll have to turn Aiport off to make the audio stutter/drop outs go away. Not sure if it's possible to revert back to an earlier Aiport driver version. I'm running 10.4.11 BTW, not sure if the issue also concerns 10.5.x users.

I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.33GHz with 3GB of memory. Issue discovered using Traktor DJ Studio 3.3.2.

Apple Airport Extreme Update Reviewa mess - Version: 2008-001, 4/7/2008 04:52AM PST

I've downloaded every update for my iMac that's been published from Apple. Repaired Permissions before and after installing. Never had a problem until now. This one has proven to be a real pain in the ass.

My connections fell off, dropped out, disappeared all together, et.al. Finally did an Archive and Install to rid myself of it. I don't understand why you can't roll-back updates to the Extreme Card, like you can with the Extreme Base Station.

Or maybe Apple just wants to sell more external hard drives and Time Machine software?
