With HoudahSpot your files are at your fingertips. Keep frequently used files within reach. Retrieve the files you didn't know you still had.

Create detailed queries to pinpoint the exact file you want to get to. Save queries for direct access to your favorite files. Set up templates for frequently performed searches. Use HoudahSpot for some housekeeping (Hi, Mom!). You could ask HoudahSpot to find all music files not yet in your Music folder. Just drag the results to your Music folder.

What's new in this version:

Bug fix: BlitzSearch URL scheme
The custom URL scheme was not fully compatible with URLs constructed by LaunchBar's search templates. Plus signs were substituted for spaces.

Bug fix: BlitzSearch
When starting the HoudahSpot application using BlitzSearch, a second empty document was created.

Bug fix: Filters
The filtering feature was partially broken in HoudahSpot 2.2 and 2.2.1.

Enhancement: Accent color
Added an intructions to the built-in Help on how to change the accent color (yellow) used in the main window as well as in the BlitzSearch window.

OK, I've now spent some time with this, and although it seems daunting at first - so many options - once you set it up to your liking, you'll wonder why Apple has not (yet) bought this great app for the next version of OS X!
This is a fine example of how someone takes the foundation of an Apple feature and making it 500% better.
Try it, and if you can't afford it, enroll in school and get the student discount :)

My only suggestion is to lower the price so more folks can (and will) buy it.
Also, a full timed-demo would be better for people to test it out.

But, even with the weak US Dollar, I can't see paying that price tag.
I want to support good software, but I have to also look at what it adds vs price.
Not a knock so much as a suggestion.
It really is neat.

I absolutely hate the change in Spotlight from Tiger to Leopard! Since there is no way to change the default search, we're now stuck with a default search of file names AND content, ordered by "last opened" date, and excluding files/folders I don't want to exclude.

That is, we were stuck until Houdahspot came along. Now we can customize our default search as we wish, create & save search templates. HS is everything Spotlight ought to have been!
