Product Description:

InsideScan for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows XP/Vista is a file and image/document management plug-in that lets you handle your images in a FileMaker Pro 7, 8.x and 9 database. Since it is perfectly integrated with FileMaker Pro through a large set of additional functions fully scriptable, InsideScan allows you to:
  • Scan images and documents directly from TWAIN compliant acquisition sources, and choose to save them on disk or into your container fields. It is also possible to scan and save multi images and documents to PDF files.
  • Import images in your database, by supplying their pathname or URL. Batch images import capability is available too, as well as importing by reference.
  • Export images from container fields, in a specified format (i.e. JPEG, TIFF, PICT, BMP, PSD, single frames, etc.).
  • Show an image in a dedicated window, where you can zoom in/out, rotate, crop and invert the picture.
  • Create a compressed thumbnail of the image to save memory space or to make presentations.
  • Apply a set of transformations to an image, such as resize, depth, resolution, rotate, invert, crop, convert, flip, scale and more.
  • Apply a watermark to images, with opacity, scaling and rotation control.
  • Get and set information for images. For example, it is possible to obtain type, width, height, depth, resolution and size. It is also possible to retrieve meta data compliant information, such as IPTC and EXIF.
  • Print images with just one command.
  • Handle files and folders. For instance you can delete, rename and copy files, create and list folders, get and set dates, OS X permissions and more.

What's new in this version:

  • The InS_Register external function does now return 1 if the plug-in has been registered correctly, 0 otherwise.
  • InS_Transform, InS_TransformJPEG and InS_Effects doesn't ignore duplicate commands anymore: this allows you to apply the same effect more times from within the very same external call.
  • Fixed a bug, related to the TWAIN sources identification, that caused a crash either at startup or by opening the Preferences window.
  • Fixed InS_Acquire and InS_Import to handle PDF format correctly.
  • Paths containing extended characters are now handled correctly on both Mac OS X and Windows.
  • Fixed InS_Transform, InS_TransformJPEG and InS_Effects to process the list of transforms in given order, from left to right.
  • Fixed InS_ListFolder to avoid returning duplicate items.
  • Fixed InS_Acquire to correctly handle devices that return images with no resolution.
  • Several minor bug fixes.

InsideScan ReviewJust tried this… - Version: 1.6fc18, 12/17/2002 07:09PM PST

out, and it looks very cool. This is a piece I've been trying to find for a while (A way to export from a container fied, under OS X.) Also, while the settings on image quality and the like are a little bit hard to figure out at first, it seems to do a reasonably good job of resizing. Combined with the Troi-File plug-in, and the FTP-it plug-in, one could build a very automated website manager, with no need for a filemaker-enabled web server!

for your report! Error 73000 means "The Clipboard does not contain an image", so perhaps you have used the wrong function to display the image after importing it. Can you kindly get in touch with us so we can solve your problem? Moreover, we have already started working on multi-page TIFF and PDF capability for the next version, so we'll be glad to have your suggestions as a beta tester if you like. Thank you in advance!

InsideScan CommentaryCan't get it… - Version: 1.6fc13, 11/8/2002 11:12AM PST

to work properly. After importing an image I get a "path" but when I try to show an image I just get: Error Code: 73000. Also, it doesn't seem to have features to handle multipage TIFF and PDF files which is what I really need. Still, I'm glad to see someone working on document management for OS X - there is NOTHING!!!
