Spanning Sync 2.0b347 (Mac OS X)

It works flawlessly for me. It syncs the Address Book with GMail Contacts better than anything else I have tried. The ability to sync multiple iCal calendars with Google Calendar counterparts is brilliant. I can't say enough good things about it. If you are like me and you organize yourself around Google Mail and Calendar, this is the product for you! Bravo! [alert admin]

PSPWare 2.5.2 (Mac OS X)
It totally eliminated my frustration in trying to figure out how to encode video that would be acceptable on my PSP 2000. The program is simple, easy and quick. It handles sync'ing on multiple memory cards. I certainly hope the program is at end of life, because I haven't found anything I like more. [alert admin]

Every once in a while you run into an application that gives you so much value for the money. Peek-a-boo does that and more. For me, it gives me a quick and easy way to track down applications that are hogging memory so I can kill them before my problems start. Who knew that Apple Mail was such a memory hog? When I saw the memory usage bar go way up, I listed the processes, sorted them by memory use and found the culprit. Quitting that application gave me back half of my memory. Great application! I have had problems with the code stability of this release since Beta 3. I am going to wait until 3.1 comes out. I have little to not trouble with Firefox 2.0.0.14. How does this happen? [alert admin]

Address Book to CSV Exporter 1.3a (Mac OS X)
Thank you for this little gem of an app! It did a perfect job of putting my Address Book fields into the GMail contacts. I use Plaxo and right now there is no two-way sync between Plaxo and Google, so I keep my addresses updated by periodically importing them from my Address Book instead. Bravo! [alert admin]

Outspring Mail 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Interesting, but you lose feature/function over other e-mail solutions ![]()

Comments about Outspring Mail 1) Importing works well. a) Importing does not import passwords for accounts b) GMail accounts do not get the right login information ie. instead of user.name@gmail.com it just uses user.name 2) Signatures are NOT imported. They are created automatically with user name and email address. 3) No rules engine, although it might be intended that Auto-Filing supercede a rules engine, I would still prefer being able to set specific actions. 4) Importing Apple Mail into new Inboxes received an error -9990. They could not be displayed. 5) Importing mail loses attributes such as colored labels, flags, etc. 6) Demo version lasts 16 days. Every time you start up you have to enter your name and click Demo button. 7) Updating Messages (Getting Mail) started to run without stopping. Had to kill the process. 8) Will not recognize LOCALHOST as a valid server address if you are using an email proxy or spam filter such as Purify. Usability lags behind Apple Mail. Has potential, but definitely no competition for Apple Mail, Entourage or Thunderbird. Pricey. [alert admin]

Like everyone else, I'm fed up with SPAM. I have been using SpamSieve for a few years, but lately more and more "sneaky SPAM" has been getting through. I went on the hunt for another SPAM tool for Mac OS X. Not much to choose from, especially since Apple Mail does not easily allow for configuring a proxy server. May SPAM solutions require the use of a proxy. This enables the SPAM software to check the mail before passing it on to your mail client (i.e. it gets up ahead of you and looks at the messages before you do.) Purify is able to create a proxy environment that works seamlessly with Apple Mail. Once I familiarized myself with all the workings (it's quite thorough and with a little patience will astound you!), I configured it to begin filtering my email. At the same time I enables SpamAssassin on my mail server (part of my Hosting Provider package.) Purify caught everything SpamAssassin did and a few things it missed. I could stay with SpamAssassin, but the downside is that I have to enter whitelist (allowed email items) into my webmail interface. It doesn't have an integration with Apple Mail. This is where Purify shines. You can mark messages right from Apple Mail using AppleScripts out-of-the-box, or craft your own. You can train Purify, but it doesn't really need much training. It can check for words and phrases, even those that are obfuscated. All of this in addition to using bayesian and other techniques to provide a robust guardian of your inbox. Try it. I think you'll be amazed. Take an hour or so to get to know the interface. It's not that complex and there is plenty of help on the forums and directly from the developer. Speaking of Mr. Hendrickson, he is responsive and helpful to any questions you may have. I am so impressed, I'm buying my license now. [alert admin]

Gotta be able to try before you buy...
Looks good in pictures, but I'm no longer willing to shell out hard earned dough without trying a game first. Will wait for a demo version. [alert admin]

Together 2.0.10 (Mac OS X)
I tried an early release of Together 2.x and had problems with imports dying and slow performance. No longer! I am amazed at how smooth and fast my imports went and the speed of the application overall. The fantastic integration with QuickLook is the best out there bar none. I've been a user of DevonThink and EagleFiler, and Together wins the prize. It gives me what I need without being over-engineered, it is lightning fast, uses the standard file system and has easy drag and drop storage. On top of all that, put a well designed user interface that is very Mac and you have it all. As Kirk used to say to Scotty, "Mr. Harris, you are a miracle worker!" Cheers, Rob [alert admin]

My Money 2.0.20 (Mac OS X)
It's got a way to go, but if you were looking for something with a very similar look and feel to Microsoft Money, this may fit the bill. Right now it's in early Beta. I am having difficulty importing QIF files and it is a bit sluggish. Also, support for heads-down data entry (keyboard) support needs work, but I like where they are going. With the right level of polish, faster performance and easier keyboard entry, this one could be the top contender for 2008. Check it out and give these folks your feedback. They seem to be on the right track! [alert admin]

You are right. I was disappointed as well. It does seem faster and I like the new interface, but it is very unstable. I even had it crash and it left the icon in the dock and I could not force quit.

Frankly, I am shocked by this individual's experience. Jeff Hendrickson and I have communicated on many occasions, not only to answer questions I may have, but to brainstorm ideas for the product. I have found him to be friendly and approachable, knowledgeable and very generous with his time. He responds quickly and is very willing to help anyone having difficulty. I also find Purify to be very stable and flexible, better than most of the…
