Alpha PinBall 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Look around...

This developer need to take a look at Little Wing Pinball games, then adjust the pricing accordingly. Based on overall graphics and playability this product is priced WAY too high at $19.99. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 8.0 (Mac OS X)

ooooo

Oh boy! They added 6 features Indesign had 4 years ago! Way to go Quark! If you "get it" they you know it's all about PDF. All the prepress arguments are pointless if you've got a PDF workflow, which, by now, any decent press house does. PDFX-1a is the simplest most efficient and trouble free method for getting a project reproduced. You can export PDFX-1a directly from any Indesign layout, yet another thing Xpress can't do. It makes no difference what you use for layout. So, use what's easier and more refined for you. Looks to me that it's Indesign since about 2005. Xpress lost ground they can never get back due to their poor attention to user needs. If everyone dumped Xpress for ID I'm certain all the prepress monkey in the world would rejoice. All one has to do is look at the type rendering in Xpress compared to ID and the difference is IMMEDIATELY noticeable. [alert admin]

Since when are private parties releasing Apple software?

If it was REALLY Safari 4, it would come from Apple and they wouldn't charge you for "Bandwidth." [alert admin]

iQuarantine X 10.5.4 [005] (Mac OS X)

Wow

I won't try it simply because of how the developer handles him/herself in posts here. Threatening users with a dissenting opinion? How ethical is that? [alert admin]

Menu Eclipse 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Interesting

Only appears to work on main "Space" via Spaces in OS10.5. Will not darken the menu on any "space" other than #1. [alert admin]

Outspring Mail 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Not bad

Not a bad looking client. A few suggestions... refine the icons A LOT! They look very poor and unprofessional as well as being a bit too large in general. Overall I like the basic operation. However, for $10 less you can get Powermail which is not only cheaper, but faster, better designed and proven. Still, if I was in the market for a good client and wasn't aware of Powermail, I'd give Outspring a shot. [alert admin]

Loop on login

For heavens sake update to 10.5.4. There's no reason to run 10.5.2.

You don't have to put up with it.

Markzware Q2ID plug in works wonderfully. If you have old projects in Xpress, convert them all to Indesign for around $200 with the plug in. Best $200 I've spent in a long time. NOTHING "Quark" leaves my office anymore. It may come in as Xpress... but it leaves with an Adobe logo.

Do we REALLY want an Adobe monopoly?

My transparencies are just fine... PDFX-1a baby... flat, RIP-friendly, format straight from Indesign and I can use all the transparent psd and ai files I want. Get with the times man. Your point is moot.

This is a concept with a lot of merit...

Not here. Maybe for 2 monitors, but I run 3 and version 2.x has definite issues with multiple monitors.

no.. I was getting a great many server errors with v1.1. However, v1.2 seems to fix a great many of the video errors.

uhmmm

All this widget does is: [your age] times 7 = dog years. That's it. Simple javascript here: function fido (){ document.getElementById('dogyear').innerHTML = document.getElementById('humanyears').value * 7 +" Yrs. Old"; document.getElementById('1').innerHTML = "In Dog Years"; document.getElementById('2').innerHTML = "You Are"; }

PowerMail is the best

Powermail's Mail folder can easily be backed up locally. There is no need for 2 mail applications. I backup my mail folder nightly, then every quarter back it up further and start fresh. Much easier to switch to older files than with Apple's Mail.
