Cocktail 3.7 (Mac OS X)

Coctail 3.7 not for Tiger

If you are running Mac OS 10.4 or higher you need to download Coctail 3.8.1. I just loaded it up and I love it. Very handy to clean up your system. Much better then the old version I had on MOS 10.2. [alert admin]

GraphicConverter X 4.6 (Mac OS X)

Must have graphics tool

I have used GC for years. Way back to version 2.0. I've been using version 4.6 now for 4 years and have loved it. I don't know why I have not upgraded it, but I guess it has served all my needs. If you ever need a graphics package that does a lot for a small price, this is it. I'm thinking of upgrading to the newest version soon. Just need to get the wife to let me spend the money. I have several Macs going back to the original to my two newest Macs. For the desk top, I'm currently using a PowerMac G4 dual 1.0 GHz shinny door. For laptop, I just upgraded from an iBook G3 500 15'', to an iBook G4 1.33. 15''. I have had no problems using GC on any Mac in the past that I can remember. GC has never failed me. I do use some other software (such as iPhoto) for special needs, but for most everything else, GC is the one I use when it comes to photo manipulation. [alert admin]

Quicksilver Mouse Triggers 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Installing Quicksliver Mouse Trigers 1.0

Does anyone know how to install Quicksilver? Downloading Quicksilver sometimes downloads as a file called “download.php” You can not install this PHP. Some places downloads a file called “Mouse Triggers.qspkg”. You can not install this file either. If you rename it “Mouse Triggers.qs.pkg”, and try to install it by double clicking on it, nothing happens. Also finder will NOT give you the option to show package contents, indicating this may not be a real package. I have found nowhere on the internet on how to instill it [alert admin]

Little Office 1.6 (Mac OS X)

Freeware - Donation-ware ??

Just as with some of the software I used to publish as donation-ware and never got any donations, this nice, but not ready for pay-ware, application must not have gotten any donations.

Version 1.6 of April 2003 has never been updated/upgraded. I guess the author didn't get enough donations to keep him interested in Little Office.

If anyone thinks people are thankful for the time developers spend to produce something useful, think again. I retired as a computer programmer none too soon back in the '90s. I have even seen some of my projects on the old bulletin-boards (pre-www.internet) with the

    author's name and credits changed!!

I wonder just how much Simplesoft got for his efforts. I wonder how many copies of Little Office were downloaded.

Going to give it a try - after I do some backup

Apparently updating to 10.4.9 on PPC is best done using Software Update and not the download from versiontracker. I did notice the versiontracker is universal where SU is specific for your processor (G3, G4, G5, Intel...) The first thing I noticed is the different size of the downloads. SU is 3MB larger for my processor (dual G4). I'll come back here later to comment after I update.
